The Story of an Astrologer and a Pigeon.

A person went to an astrologer with a view to check the valdity of predictions made with the help of astrology. He caught a pigeon in his hand and reached that astrologer's place.

The person: "Guruji, Pranam!  I want you to predict the future of this pigeon, I mean, tell me whether this pigeon will die in my hand or fly in the open sky after few minutes.

Smiling on his question, the astrologer said, "Well,  first thing,  we don't predict anyone's death except special case,  and also as per the code of conduct of astrology one should not make predictions if the question is asked just for fun or to check the validity of this divine science....."

The person interrupted him in between and said,  "I was sure I'll get some diplomatic answer. Because no one can predict the future of this pigeon as it is in my hand."

The astrologer replied, "Dear!  I didn't mean that I can't predict it,  but I was just making you aware that this divine science is not a child's play and should be taken seriously. Well,  so far as the prediction concern,  I'll surely predict about it. (He draws a chart then does some calculations and then writes something in a piece of paper, which he kept aside)

The person is curiously waiting for the prediction. The astrologer took a long breath and said with a confident voice, "Well!  Considering the current planetary position,  it looks like the pigeon will surely die in between your hands."

The person was just waiting for the answer and as soon as he heard this,  he releasesd the pigeon just to prove the prediction wrong. Then, he was staring at the astrologer with a feeling of winning.

The astrologer again smiled and replied, "Well! My prediction is not wrong. (he handed over a chit in which he wrote something while seeing the chart) The chit reads, "the pigeon will definitely fly in the open sky."

The astrologer explained, "my dear friend! I already knew your intention that you had come here just to prove my astrology wrong. That's why I did the prediction by breaking the ethics of astrology. Who we are to kill any living being? Everything is under the control of Almighty! And you said that the life of pigeon was in your hand,  but now it's proven that it was not in your hand. You could have killed the pigeon but now it's flying the open sky. And I was merely a medium to save that Pigeon's life."

The astrologer further explained, "Free will and destiny are the same, with a time lag. Free will of yesterday (past) becomes today's destiny and free will of to day will become tomorrow's (future) destiny."

The person was speechless as he realised his mistake.
